We sat down with Sara Lesieur, owner of Bedside Manor, to discuss her recommendations for easy ways to make your home feel festive this holiday season. Sara and her team recently furnished one of the model units at The Residences at Seafire with bed linens specifically curated by the team to coordinate with the interior design created by Design Studio. For Sara’s list of five tips and tricks to dress your home for the holidays, read on!
#1 Add sparkle!
Sara suggested a number of different areas to focus on when sprucing up your home this holiday season, but her main takeaway was sparkle.
“I’m like a magpie, I am drawn to sparkle,” she says. “You can never have enough glitter and sparkles at this time of year – on everything!”
Bedside Manor has a range of glittery trees, hanging tree ornaments, sparkle blankets, and so much more.
#2 Light it up
“Lights are great at Christmas but actually good for all year round,” Sara offers. “Having fairy lights in a canopy over your patio or around your home jazzes it up and creates an ambience. It really changes the dynamic.”
Offering both interior and exterior lights that come with and without timers, Bedside Manor has a range of lights, including regular-sized lights, and smaller twinkle lights known as “rice lights.”
#3 Dress the front door
A festive wreath on the front door creates a welcoming entrance and a reminder of holiday joy the moment you arrive home. With festive glittery wreaths available at Bedside Manor as well as options lush with greenery, there are options for both a traditional and contemporary look.
#4 Create a tablescape
If you love wreaths and want more than one, Sara had a creative suggestion for how else to use a wreath in your home: “I’ve seen wreaths laid flat on dining tables and filled with a centerpiece tray of candles or other ornaments,” she says.
Sara also suggests piling small ornaments into a clear vase as a centerpiece and using decorative place settings, such as small placecard holders as a special touch for nights when you’re hosting holiday dinner parties.
“Anything you put in the centre of the table, just remember: it should be small and low enough to be able to see – and talk to! – the person opposite you, or it should be positioned on a riser you can see under or in a clear glass container you can see through,” Sara advises.
#5 Bedrooms count, too!
Perhaps bedrooms aren’t as immediately visible from the main living areas, but it doesn’t hurt to feel festive even when you’re catching some Zzzs. Sara says an easy way to make the bedroom feel seasonal without changing out your entire sheet set is to add throw pillows and blanket throws in festive colours – and, yes, with sparkles! These super-soft options are available at Bedside Manor now.
