Activity guide for Cayman Islands living

Activity guide for Cayman Islands living

09 Nov 2017

Living in Grand Cayman, we are surrounded by the beautiful Caribbean ocean and are spoiled for choice when it comes to water activities – from building sand castles, to yacht sailing, scuba diving and activities like jet skiing and kitesurfing.

However, for those looking for a break from the water, there is much to explore and many things to do across the island. Here are a few top picks at our properties:

Camana Bay: Something for everyone

Camana Bay is a mixed-use community brimming with events for all ages and open spaces for ultimate relaxation. Grab a coffee or gelato nearby and retreat to a rocking chair or a hammock. Watch the latest flicks at the cinema and afterwards, grab a bite to eat from over a dozen restaurants, cafes, markets and specialty shops. Take in the sights of the Town Centre from the 75-foot Observation Tower or while atop the Rise, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the North Sound and Seven Mile Beach. It’s also a handy place to get all your errands done in one place with laundry and dry cleaning, dental and medical care, pet goods, mailbox services and more.

Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa: For staying and playing

Escape your mundane day-to-day rituals with a vacation at Cayman’s newest resort. Linger around the pool, treat your mind, body and soul at The SPA at Seafire or discover the food scene with Seafire’s featured restaurants. Brunch at Ave is a huge hit with locals and tourists alike, or try a theatrical culinary experience showcasing Spanish tapas-inspired dishes at Avecita. Wander down to the seaside for coastal Mexican fare bites at Coccoloba.

Discover neighbourhood parks: Picnics and parties

Growing Communities is a public-private partnership between Dart and the Cayman Islands Government that facilitates the restoration, development and maintenance of five district parks and several neighbourhood community parks in Grand Cayman. Each park is unique in its offerings with jungle gyms, sand playgrounds, basketball courts, football fields, picnic tables, barbecue areas and more. All parks are available for private parties and can be booked by clicking here.

North Sound Golf Club: It’s tee time

Get your drivers ready for Cayman’s only 18-hole championship golf course with stunning water views of the North Sound and lush landscaping. Residents and visitors alike can take advantage of all-inclusive memberships, seasonal packages, golf instruction from PGA professionals and the island’s friendliest open-air bar.

Island Plaza: Duty-free shopping

Finding the perfect birthday present or special gift is easy at Island Plaza. It is a hub for duty-free shopping with internationally recognised retailers Pandora, Swarovski and Diamonds Direct. It is also the home to Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, one of many across the Caribbean, U.S. and Mexico. Or if you’re looking for something chill to do – literally – stop in at the new Gelato & Co store for a scoop of this Italian treat.
